The Donegal Association of New York, held its Annual Dinner Dance at Antun’s of Queens Village
This year’s festive occasion began with a cocktail hour Followed by dinner presentations and dancing to the music from the New York Showband.
The 2015 “Donegal Person of the Year” was Philomena McGroary Nicaj. Philomena has been a member of the Donegal Association for the past 20 years. She was born and raised in Lettertrain, Letterbarrow, Co. Donegal, and emigrated to the USA in 1970. She is an active member of the Irish American Center in Mineola, Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, and the LAOH. Philomena is married to Paul, and they have two daughters Tara and Kristina. The family resides in Whitestone, New York.
Noel Moloney was the recipient of the Willie Joe Cunningham Donegal Award for 2015.
Noel is employed by the US Customs and Border Protection Services. He is a supervisor for the Anti Terrorism Counterbrand Enforcement Team.
Noel is a former Gaelic football player with the NY GAA & NYPD Gaelic Football Club.
His parents, Eileen and Michael, hail from Co. Galway & Co. Offaly respectively.
Noel, his wife Helen, & twin boys Niall and Stephen live in Pearl River, New York.

Dignitaries joining the celebrations on the night included New York Senator Chuck Schumer who has gained a great deal of support from the Irish in America, President of the United Counties Association of New York Garrett Doyle and New York Vice Consul General Fiona McCabe.
